  • Fantastic Pixel Castle confirms closure following split with NetEase on November 17.
  • The team continues searching for funding to keep their MMORPG Ghost's development alive.

Fantastic Pixel Castle is shutting down on November 17, 2025, as confirmed officially by the team. Confirmed back in October this year, the team communicated that they had parted ways with publisher NetEase Games.

However, in their latest blog post, Community manager Faye revealed that the studio has been overwhelmed by messages of encouragement from both developers and players who believed in the project. Despite the uncertainty, the team remains dedicated to finding new funding to continue developing Ghost.

Studio head and Game Director Greg Street also shared a heartfelt message on his LinkedIn, confirming that while the studio’s operations may stop after November 17, there’s still a chance funding could come through. He noted that the team’s immediate goal is to help its developers find new roles, whether within a potential “Fantastic Pixel Castle 2.0” or at other studios.

“To our supporters at NetEase, thanks for taking a chance on us. For our team, I appreciate you coming with me on this journey, and let us hope we can continue to work together,” he shared.

Fantastic Pixel Castle (FPC) was founded in November 2023 to create Ghost, a fresh and modern fantasy MMORPG. The studio was built on the idea of staying small, creative, and free from unnecessary bureaucracy, allowing developers to focus on making a game players will truly love.
