  • Remedy, Wargaming, and Redhill veterans launch Mainstay Games.
  • Boutique co-dev studio targets long-term AAA and live-service partnerships.
  • Focus on small, senior teams embedded within partner pipelines.

Matias Myllyrinne and Mikko Uromo have officially announced the launch of Mainstay Games, a new Helsinki-based game company focused on boutique co-development.

The announcement, shared via LinkedIn, marks a continuation of the duo’s long-standing collaboration, having previously worked together at both Remedy Entertainment, Wargaming, and Redhill Games.

A boutique co-development studio built for stability

Mainstay Games is positioning itself as a boutique co-development partner, designed to integrate deeply with client teams rather than operate as a traditional external vendor.

The company aims to deploy small, senior teams that embed directly into ongoing projects, particularly live-service games with large player bases, as well as select early-stage productions. The emphasis is on continuity, with teams staying on projects long-term instead of cycling between multiple assignments.

This model reflects a growing need among publishers for experienced, low-friction partners who can contribute meaningfully without adding operational complexity.

What sets Mainstay apart is the depth of shared experience between its founders

Myllyrinne and Uromo have worked together across multiple companies and phases of the industry, from narrative-driven AAA development at Remedy Entertainment to large-scale live-service ecosystems at Wargaming, and later as co-founders at Redhill Games.

This journey gives them a rare combination of AAA storytelling expertise, live-service operational knowledge, and studio-building experience.

Uromo brings deep technical and production leadership from his engineering background, while Myllyrinne contributes executive and strategic oversight shaped by years of leading global teams.

Built on Experience, Focused on Execution

Mainstay Games feels like the result of lessons learned across three different environments: Remedy, Wargaming, and Redhill.

Instead of chasing scale, the studio is doubling down on focus, integration, and longevity, the main areas where many traditional outsourcing or co-dev models fall short.

If successful, Mainstay could represent a more sustainable version of co-development, one that prioritizes consistency and deep collaboration over volume.

In an industry increasingly defined by efficiency and execution, that might be exactly what partners are looking for.
