Turkey-based mobile interactive entertainment company Cypher Games has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the U.S. launch of its social match-3 title, Match Squad.
The funding round was led by The Raine Group and Play Ventures, with support from MIT, E2VC, Big Bets, and existing backers like Discord CEO Humam Sakhnini, King founder Riccardo Zacconi, and Tripledot Studio co-founder and Managing Director at Arcadia Gaming Partners Akin Babayigit.
“We’re thrilled to close this Series A fundraising with the support of such a strong investor group,” said Anil Simsek, Co-Founder and CEO of Cypher Games. “Our mission is to pursue innovation and deliver it with top-tier storytelling and premium production quality, at the fastest possible pace. This new funding provides the liquidity necessary to execute on that vision as we bring our game to market.”
Cypher Games is a mobile game studio based in Istanbul, started by a team that simply loves games and art. Their goal is pretty straightforward: make fun games that anyone can jump into.
Their first game, Match Squad, is a match-3 puzzle game but with a twist. Along with matching tiles, you roll dice to attack friends, protect your city, and build new ones as you go. It’s colourful, lighthearted, and packed with piggy adventures, plus you can play with squads and climb the leaderboards together.
The new round of funding follows the $10 million seed round back in September 2024, which helped the team grow and speed up work on Match Squad.
With this new funding, Cypher plans to keep pushing Match Squad forward as it gets ready for its U.S. launch. The team also wants to bring in more talent to support the rollout and has already set its sights on starting work on a second game within the next couple of years.
