Mobile game developer and publisher Sandsoft Games is reportedly closing its doors for good. The Riyadh-based studio, which once aimed to become the Middle East’s top mobile game publisher, is being shut down entirely by its Saudi owners following layoffs earlier this year.
Sources told MobileGamer.biz that the employees at the company has been told to remain cautious about publicly explaining their departures, and several former staff members have quietly updated their LinkedIn profiles to reflect their unemployment.

MobileGamer.biz adds that Sandsoft did not respond to repeated requests for comment over the past month. The company previously closed its game development studios in Barcelona and Riyadh in July, saying it would shift focus entirely to publishing.
However, the latest updates suggest the firm is now being wound down completely. Sandsoft was not part of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (which owns Savvy Games Group) but did receive some government backing as part of the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification efforts.
Founded with global ambitions, Sandsoft Games had offices in Riyadh, Shanghai, Helsinki, and Barcelona. Its portfolio includes games such as Pocket Necromancer, Wizario, Potions & Spells, Iza’s Supermarket, Business Dude, and co-publishing work on DC Heroes & Villains: Match3 in collaboration with Jam City.
