PlanetPlay has launched a new global event called “Battle for the Habitats,” which is uniting over 100 PC and mobile games. Running from April 22, on Earth Day, until June 5, 2026, the aim is to raise $1 million benefitting the Rainforest Alliance and Oceana, two leading environmental organisations.
Instead of asking players to donate directly, the campaign lets them contribute just by playing games. One can either buy games through PlanetPlay’s store, take part in in-game events, or purchase special items in mobile titles.
If you still want to contribute directly, there’s also an option to make a small $5 donation to either Oceana or the Rainforest Alliance through the event website. 100% of PlanetPlay’s net profits from sales go toward the cause.
There’s a small competitive twist, too. You pick between Team Rainforest or Team Reef, and face Big Chop, a larger-than-life villain threatening ecosystems across land and sea. Progress is tracked on a digital mosaic, and from there, one can even earn prizes through the PlanetPlay store. There are creators involved who are streaming and getting their communities to join in.

A bunch of big names are part of this. You’ve got games like Street Fighter V, Football Manager 2026, Total War, Sonic titles, and even mobile ones like Shadow Fight and Love Island: The Game running themed events or in-game offers during this period.
Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay, said: “Battle for the Habitats shows what’s possible when the global games community comes together with a shared purpose. By turning play into real-world impact, we’re empowering millions of players to support the protection of rainforests and oceans in a way that’s fun, accessible, and meaningful. Together, we can help safeguard the habitats our planet depends on.”
PlanetPlay, which has driven over $2.2 million in funding for environmental and nature projects, is trying to link gaming time with real-world impact. Instead of asking players to step outside games, the idea is to keep everything inside what you’re already doing and still make it count.
This event is part of their “Make Green Moves” campaign, where studios add these kinds of limited-time activities into their games. Visit the official website to know more about the event and also to pick a side.
