PlayDucky, the mobile publisher behind the hugely popular physics sandbox game Melon Sandbox, has shared new details about the game’s creator ecosystem, revealing that over $1 million has been paid to user creators in 2025 alone.
The announcement marks one of the first times the company has publicly talked about how the platform has grown since Melon Sandbox first launched in 2022.
If you’ve played Melon Sandbox, you probably already know how much the game leans into creativity. At its core, it’s a physics-based sandbox where players experiment with ragdoll characters, weapons, and objects in open maps.
You can throw characters around, build strange contraptions, trigger explosions, or create elaborate physics experiments. The game doesn’t really impose strict objectives. Instead, it lets players mess around with interactions between objects, making it more about creativity and experimentation than traditional gameplay.

But what has really pushed the game forward is its mod marketplace, where players can upload their own content for others to download. That includes custom maps, mechanics, weapons, vehicles, and even full mini-games built inside the sandbox.
What’s especially interesting is that many of these creators are very young, with most of them reportedly under the age of 20. According to PlayDucky, the top creator on the platform earned more than $80,000 last year just from their mod content in the game’s marketplace.
The marketplace already features player-made projects like custom cities and fully interactive mini-games. The developers also showcase creations like Steampunk City and Melon Playground, both user-built experiences available through the marketplace.
