  • Ville Rauma announces Demon Squirrels Game Studio, his new venture.
  • Debut title will be Song of the Fight, set in 1900s St. Louis underworld.
  • Studio embraces AI tools to enable large-scale development with small teams.

Games industry veteran Ville Rauma has announced the launch of his new indie studio, Demon Squirrels Game Studio. Alongside the studio reveal, Song of the Fight will be the studio’s first title, which will cater to the audience on PC.

This marks a new chapter in Rauma’s career after many years of working on different projects and with various teams. He also spent 9 years at Fingersoft, where he served as COO.

As for the new title, Song of the Fight is a tactical gang leadership RPG set in 1900s St. Louis. The game focuses on building and managing a criminal empire, while taking inspiration from classic titles like Fallout 2, X-COM, and Jagged Alliance 2, to have a blend of city exploration, team management, and deep character systems.

The game introduces a strong focus on psychology and relationships, where each fighter has their own instincts, emotions, and connections that influence how they behave both in and out of combat.

While confirming his stance on betting his studio on the idea of making a game using AI, Ville Rauma shared, “Everyone says don’t use AI in games. I disagree, and I’m betting my studio on it. New tools and ways of working mean a solo developer or a tiny team can build something that would have taken a studio of 50 just a few years ago. And I intend to prove it.”

With Demon Squirrels Game Studio, Rauma is aiming to create games that prioritize depth, creativity, and identity, built around the philosophy of making “products with a soul.” Song of the Fight is currently in development as a PC title, with the studio also seeking early investment support as it moves forward.
